Building wine from source

Post by murasaki9 »

I am trying to install wine 1.5.5 from source. It seems to be working so far, but as far as I am concerned it has been compiling for a very long time.
It is almost 12:00 pm where I am at and I think it has been nearly and hour of two since I started.

Is this normal? Or have I done something wrong? Thanks much!

its normal .. but its also dependent on the number of processes running parallel to this, your system resources etc., my ubuntu cloud server with 1GB ram and 1GHz processing took about an hour as well ..

Thank you.

Would it help if I made sure that nothing else was running while it compiles?

Wine is not desktop integrated

Post by murasaki9 »

Thank you. It installed successfully and completely.
But I don't know how to desktop integrate it using its desktop integration file. Does anyone know how to add it to menus?

What part of that didn't make sense? As a user of wine you should at
minimum understand where the default wine prefix is ".wine/drive_c"
and how to create folders on your linux machine. If not start by
reading the FAQ.
