It mean's the game's DRM is mistaking Wine for a debugger. Did you upgrade either Wine or the game recently?

Did you update wine or this game just before it broke or did you
install some other application in wine before it broke?

Updating is changing things. Apparently the game's DRM has changed in the new version.

If you did not update wine or your system other than the update of the
game its likely the game update was the problem.

I would make a clean prefix and reinstall the game and avoid
installing game updates (assuming that is indeed the source of the
breakage).

Then it probably is a regression in wine.

That means that during the wine development new addition to wine broke
old functionality. Normally people would ask you to build wine from
source and track back the change to the source commit that broke wine
for you however I see that for you this will be a difficult task.

What version did Kubuntu 11.10 have? I assume it was 1.3.X

That's a far cry from not changing anything--you've actually changed pretty much everything.

It could be a regression in Wine, as John suggests, but it could also be some other change in the environment. One possibility is a different gcc version being used to compile the Wine packages for 12.04; some forms of copy protection are known to break under certain gcc versions.

Start by figuring out the exact version of Wine that last worked for you under 11.10, and test it under 12.04. If it works, it's a regression in Wine; if it doesn't, it's some other change in your system.

Hello,

no chance with wine 1.3,1.4 eg nothing works.

A debugger has been found running in your system. Please, unload it from memory and restart your program.

so it seems i have to install windows again ;(

Why not just put Kubuntu 11.10 back and resist the urge to upgrade.

Wine may be taking longer to boot in this new OS. Try running winecfg
first in the console, leave it open and try running the game. When you
start winecfg it will boot wine and the game will start faster because
wineserver is already running, it may help in this case.

Hello,

i want to say that the game is working. I try another distribution like opensuse and under opensuse with wine 1.4 and wine 1.5.x works. So there is something wrong with the new kubuntu version 12.04.

You should file a bug with Ubuntu.
