Re: Running Diablo (1) help
When I used crossover games then go to configure/control panel/wine configuration .... there isn't an error... it launches game and shows the intro but when its time show the menu... its all black. What do you mean about visiting the applications database? Thanks for your help!!!jjmckenzie wrote:On Tue, Sep 6, 2011 at 12:56 PM, capth4u <[email protected]> wrote:Does the same error occur with Wine as well as CrossOver?I am using the wine configuration as well....

If you look under winehq some guy claims to have it working again as of
march 2011, with a hacked patch, Looking at it not sure why you can't just
slect GDI in the registry, but I don't have time....nvm just read what he
added in there. Yea first you want to test if changing the direct draw to
GDI works for you. Then try the hack.

Running Diablo (1) help
1. Diablo 1 is very old. I know some people have had issues running it on
newer windows stuff. You may want to try a much older wine, not sure.
Also, to change the GDI, it's just a registry entry: ie gdireg.reg:
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wine\Direct3D]
"DirectDrawRenderer"="gdi"
then just WINEPREFIX="path" regedit gdireg.reg
But it doesn't always work for people, so if that doesn't work you may want
to try the wine hack for diablo 1 someone posted on the app page.

--wow...can they make it any more confusing? Why doesn't someone just make a
simple fix? If it the GDI...then why not make something that turns it on.
