error while installing orcad

Post by metajemo »

hello guys :!:
i am using ubuntu 8.1, wine 1.0.1
i've tryed to install orcad v15.7.
the setup menu consists of three buttons:
Set Up Licensing - that installs the licence manager, needy for the program later when it prompts for the licence file.however while trying to install it i get the following message:
The network protocols installed on this computer either cannot be detected or are incapatible with the FLEXlm license manager
You must install TCP/IP before the FLEXlm license manager can be installed
...
going onto the second butten of the setup menu -Install Products - installs orcad fine and it works great accept for a tiny problem:since it doesnt have a licence.dat key most of the programs in the package cannot be run unless the key exists.in order to get the key to work it needs the licence manager to be installed
does anybody have an idea how to fix the error :?:

Terminal output?

Try upgrading to development release, wine 1.1.15.

No, it's not a terminal output. It's a visual message after the installation of the product has started...
I've upgrated the release version, still I get the same message.

Run it from the terminal and post the output. It might give an idea of
how the program is determining the state of TCP/IP

That was what Austin meant...

PE 450000- 462a00 Deferred sentinel.sys
THat looks like a copy-protection dongle driver....

If you've got lots of time, you might give the USB patches a try and
compile a Wine version with them... Doesn't look really useful
though...

http://wiki.winehq.org/USB

If there is an option to get a non-dongle protected version, that
might help as well...

A Linux version of FlexLM exists as well, which might simplify the
license manager setup. No idea where it can be found though...

This appears to be an incomplete download of the installer file. You might want to try and fetch it again from the official site or (if this is a FOSS program or other freeware) CNet like distribution site. Do not try to install WAReZ on your system. Wine is very capable of running Windows malware programs.
