LISA finite element in wine

Post by wasuthm1 »

I want to use LISA finite element program (http://www.lisa-fet.com/) under my Ubuntu machine.
I did install Wine and it runs ok, then I install LISA and it installed without any error.
However whrn I run LISA, it did not appear on the screen without any error?

Anyone can assist how to me LISA running?

Thank you for the response, There are some information here:
===========
wine --version
wine-1.2.2

running LISA from terminal
wine: Install the Windows version of Mono to run .NET executables
===========

Does it mean I miss "Mono" program?
how can I get this program from?

What version of .NET does LISA require?

If it is .NET 1.1 or 2.0 you can try installing the native version.

If it is .NET 3.0, 3.5 or 4.0 try Mono.

http://wiki.winehq.org/winetricks describes what winetricks is and how
to use it.

Microsoft .Net 2.0 and XNA 3.1. The installer will prompt to download them if they are not present.

When I installed It, it prompted to install XNA 3.1.
After installing XNA 3.1 as suggested, then the installation was successful.
But when I run, I got mono message.

I will try to install .net 2.0 first then mono

Thanks

Install only one of them. Mono will conflict with .NET 2.0 and vice
versa. .NET 2.0 should work well. Mono adds additional functionality
of items outside of .NET.

outside of .NET.
If both are installed then only .NET will be used. There's no problem
with this, but it means there's no reason to install mono after .NET.

Also, Mono 2.6 includes support for .NET 1.1 (but not 4.0). That still
works, and Mono developers are still updating the 2.6 branch.

This means the icon file cannot be read or is not present.

What does the error window say?

Other problems with LISA FET...

Post by Akenathon71 »

:(
Hi All at wine team. I try to install lisa fet 7.6.0 on wine 1.2.2 running on ubuntu 10.04 lts 64 bit. All starting requiriments of lisa are satisfied (.net 2.0, xna and Shader Model 1.1) but when i click on "next" setup stops with this error message in shell window:

X Error of failed request: BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation)
Major opcode of failed request: 140 (ATIFGLEXTENSION)
Minor opcode of failed request: 74 ()
Value in failed request: 0x4e00002
Serial number of failed request: 6216
Current serial number in output stream: 6216

is there anything i can do? i think that the problem is with my ATI HD 3870 card...Thanks a lot in advance and compliments for your work with wine!

I would definitely try installing wine3.1 (you probably have to uninstall wine first). This is the development version, but it contains many many fixes. For example Windows Mathematica 7 works well with Wine 3.1, but not with 2.0.

If the worst came to the worst, you could always deinstall wine3.1 and return to the old version.

You mean wine 1.3.X versus wine 1.2.x

There is no wine 2.0 or 3.X
