Silverlight Wine 1.2
I am trying to install Silverlight so that I can use it with Firefox under Wine 1.2. I typed "wine Silverlight.exe" and this is what I got in the console when I push the install button:

Looks like it will not install, is there a way to install it?

Re: Silverlight Wine 1.2
Do you know that Novell has a native equivalent (well, sort of) to Silverlight called Moonlight? Check it out:
http://www.mono-project.com/Moonlight
From what I understand it's a step behind Silverlight, but it's better than nothing.

I did try playing a netflix movie with moonligh, but what I get is this:
Watching instantly on your computer
Our apologies — streaming is not supported for your operating system.
Note that your current Internet browser is fully compatible with adding titles to the Instant Queue for later watching on compatible devices.
Complete System Requirements
To watch instantly, you'll need a computer that meets the following minimum requirements:
* Windows
o Windows XP with Service Pack 2, Vista or Windows 7
o Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher; or Firefox 2 or higher
o 1.2 GHz processor
o 512 MB RAM
* Mac
o An Intel-based Mac with OS 10.4.8 or later
o Safari 3 or higher; or Firefox 2 or higher
o 1 GB RAM
That is why I wanted to run Firefox and Silverlight on Wine so that Netflix thinks I am running Windows.

Virtual Box
I installed Windows XP on Virtual Box http://www.virtualbox.org/ just like I saw in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZuyPJFhVTxQ
However when I tried to install SilverLight inside of Virtual Box I got a message that my browser and operating system combination is not supported. Any ideas?

Re: Virtual Box
Ask on the Virtual Box forum. This has nothing to do with Wine.banasw01 wrote:I installed Windows XP on Virtual Box http://www.virtualbox.org/ just like I saw in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZuyPJFhVTxQ

I did this same thing last week and it worked fine. Make sure you are using
a modern and well-supported 32-bit browser. (Firefox 3.6, IE 8, etc).
I think Silverlight in Wine has issues because of some .NET dependencies.Silverlight so that I can use it with Firefox under Wine 1.2
You'd think after all this time Netflix would get some dependable Linux
support. :/

I got it to work!
I got Silverlight to install and Netflix is working. I just had to run Windows Update until everything was up to date and then Silverlight installed.
Thank you!

Thank you!
