Concept: Wine as a workspace

Post by MadnessRed »

Hi, I had an idea which I would like to post. Not sure if this is the right place but I don't see anywhere else.

Where you can run wine as a window. "Emulate Virtual Desktop", would it be possible to set a workspace up as a virtual desktop?

I am interested to know what other people think, am I the only one who would like this or do other peopel thin its a good idea too?

Also I a not sure how hard it would be to do, maybe there is a simple tweak or maybe it needs a lot of changes to the source.

Anyway a quick mockup is below.

The point of a virtual desktop is to take away control from the window
manager. Making it a workspace would defeat that purpose (or require
much tighter integration with the wm, which would be hard to make work
across wm's).

ok, I see your point, I was thinking more of the same windows as we have a the moment just it would be full screen, except it would not cover the panels.

That's what it is without virtual desktop mode. Wine's desktop (and it have to have one) is always present.
