Inside the new prefix you will have a clean slate no installedhow thats supposed to help?
i tried a WINEPREFIX="$HOME/.wine-second" and then wine explorer and then from there i opened a msi file but it was as before
applications and no msi. I leave the discussion to others about wine
explorer because I do not use that.

when i type for example : wine msiexec creator.msi (its a msi file for mobipocket creator)
it just shows the command line options for msi installer in a gui window and nothing in the terminal
and when i try winetricks and select for example msxml4 ,it shows the command line option for msi installer again and winetricks gives an error
:Winetricks error: Note: command 'wine msiexec /i /home/reza/.winetrickscache/msxml4.msi' returned status 103. Aborting.

Odds are all the fiddling left an installation incomplete or somehowi think wine thinks i have another msi installation that is running because when i type  "wine msiexec /unregister" it says
"Another installation is already in progress. Â Complete that installation before proceeding with this install"
else botched the settings.

If you want a program with a nice GUI interface and are willing to pay
for it, there is CrossOver for Linux/Mac.
However, if you don't want to go that way, you can do this:
WINEPREFIX=$HOME/my_new_wine_prefix wine <your installation program goes
here>
from the directory for your program.
Then you can invoke the program by typing in:
WINEPREFIX=$HOME/my_new_wine_prefix wine 'C:\Program Files\<installation
directory of your program>\<program name>.exe
This should run your program.
