[Colin McRae Rally] Crashes the X-Server?!

[Colin McRae Rally] Crashes the X-Server?!

Hi,

yesterday I created a bug report for this, but the wine-devs said, that wine can't crash the x-server (yeah, sure...) so I wanted to ask if someone knows how to get a log of what is happening there?!

Things to make the xserver crash: simple start the game, just after double click the x-server crashs and I've to reboot, ctrl-alt-backspace doesn't do anything.

I tried wine ./colin.exe > ./log.txt but that doesn't work.

So if it is a graphic driver related bug, shouldn't be a stack trace somewhere in /var/log? Can't find anything that looks like that

Maybe someone could help me with that?

You need to ask this question in whatever forum exists for your graphics card. Since you neglected to tell us what graphics card that is, I'm afraid I can't be more specific than that.

You might want to look for a core file on your system. Other than that
you will have to ask at the support fora for whatever Linux distribution
you are using.

BTW, just for our information, what distribution and video card are you
using?

How about switching to a different tty? alt-ctrl-f1,etc? /home/(user)/.xsession-errors might have something but if you reboot it might just get overwritten. /var/log/Xorg*.log might have some relevant info also.

graphic card: ATI Mobile HD2600

And no, I can not change to a different tty...even SysReq keys doesn't work...seems that it's not only the XServer that crashs...

I'm trying to start the game on a Ubuntu 8.04 with a Nvidia 7800 GTX atm

It's definitely a driver problem not a Wine fault, try update the driver :P

That crash is in your video driver, not the game.
