wine + external optical device?

i was thinking about buying an external dvd or bd device. are there restrictions of any kind on working with wine?

As long as the device works with Linux, there shouldn't be a problem.

where is an optical usb drive typically mounted upon connection?

can you tell me a page with current recommended drives (linux)?

In most modern Linux systems CDs/DVDs (USB or ATA-connected) and USB drives typically are mounted using the Udisks2 subsystem. E.g. see: Arch Wiki: udisks .

Also see: WineHQ Wiki: Eject . A useful command for older games, with multi-CD installers, etc.!

i went for the asus u9m, let's see how it will play together with linux.
