The text at
http://www.winehq.org/download/ suggests that newer versions of Wine for Ubuntu are only available for version Lucid Lynx 10.04.
Download Ubuntu packages - binary and source .debs for Ubuntu Lucid (10.04 LTS)
I am using version 1.1.31 of Wine on Ubuntu Karmic Koala 9.10. Can I use any of the more recent versions of Wine with Karmic?
Upgrading Karmic to Lucid is unfortunately not an option.
