Wine 1.3 packaged for Ubuntu, must be installed explicitly

Post by Scott Ritchie »

I have added a new series of Wine 1.3 packages to the Wine PPA:
https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-wine/+archive/ppa

These are for 10.04 (Lucid) only and must be explicitly installed:

sudo apt-get install wine1.3

Users who simply install the wine or wine1.2 packages (as in, all
existing users) will instead get the stable Wine 1.2 release, which is
still packaged there.

Thanks,
Scott Ritchie

Thanks for the heads up, switched. I'm noticing Wine 1.2 still has this paragraph in its description, which isn't very accurate anymore:
This package is based on a recent Wine beta. While many more applications will
work, there may be some loss of functionality compared with the stable release
provided by the regular wine package.

I downloaded the 1.3 and when running Steam Civ4 BTS, Civ4 fails to start.

I compiled 1.3 from source, and it ran.

Lucid on amd64
