Okay, I'm a super super-dee-duper newbster. Aaaaand I'm on a MacBook. Aaaaand I'm running Leopard (10.5.
. So I've used Wine before a loooong time ago for some things, but nothing big. And now I want to play Gunz (from ijji.com). I got everything downloaded (the reactor) and then it tells me something about "Gecko" needing to be installed. I get everything all installed and check "Launch Ijji Reactor" box on the final page of the installer. And then it takes a while, and then a white box pops up with "HTML rendering is currently disabled" written in the middle. I'm discouraged. So I go do some research, but I just don't know enough to wrap my head around it. Got any tips?

Tried Direct Download
Okay, so I tried a direct file download (Not with Reactor), and I got the Gunz downloader. Installed and tried running it, but got an error message:
X Error of failed request: BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation)
Major opcode of failed request: 129 (Apple-DRI)
Minor opcode of failed request: 2 ()
Value in failed request: 0x20004f
Serial number of failed request: 453
Current serial number in output stream: 453
THE HELL?!

Have you tried virtual desktop (Apple's X's fullscreen support suck...)
HAve you read the relevant AppDB / FAQ entries?

'Kay it says WineHelper version 1.0b (1.0)
And I got Wine a LOOOONG time ago. I just got a new one just in case, but uninstalled. I don't know what version, but it's like... x86. Not sure what that means. And I don't know what virtual desktop is, but would that help my second problem (my follow-up post)? And I don't know what the AppDB / FAQ entries are, haha. I'll go look'em up, though.

And stop shouting.
thats a good way to not get any help...Jeiji wrote:OH SORRY. IS THAT TOO LOUD? lol
anyways.. WineHelper is part of Darwine, and not supported here.... its also a long dead project with no support anywhere.
The easiest way to do a normal vanilla Wine install is to use Macports... or you can look into 3rd party apps that have their own support such as Crossover, Wineskin, and WineBottler.
for gaming.. with fullscreen support better than normal... might wanna try Wineskin. Not just cuz its my project, but because i focus on games and have some work arounds built in for fullscreen mode and resolution changing and stuff that normal X11.app cannot do.Jeiji wrote:Yeah, that last response to me lead me to WineBottler, and I'm downloading it right now. Tenks yu all for halp meh! Hopefully I can get to the bottom of this.

You need to tell Mike Kronenberg this. There is nothing that can beYeah, I tried out WineBottler's package, and it just gives me a black screen for the games. Aaaaand that's it. Just a black screen. No sound, no graphics.
done here about it.
