Whats Up Gold

Post by Argyle2925 »

Hi,

I am trying to install WUG; This requires a number of prerequisites to be met from the get go.

An installation of IE6 or above...done
An installation of MS Host Script 5.6 or above....done
An installation of MDAC 2.6 or above..again..done

An installation of client for Microsoft Networks and File and Print Sharing...failed :(

I have the current version of wine running on Ubuntu Lucid and have also looked thru the current winetricks and unless I missing the glarely obvious (done it before) I cannot find a package for either of these. I have also looked thru AppDB and again cant find the answer.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Isn't there a Linux native version of this program?

Nice thought but unfortunately no. I have a licence for this current product but the machine is being put into a closed hosted enviroment where windows platforms are seen as a security risk.

Obviously this won't work on Wine. This piece requires extensive kernel support that Wine has none of. All you can do is to convince your program that you have this part and that it doesn't need to install it. Or try and "lift" installed program from windows (registry & all).
