Set the resolution to 1000x70

Post by pleasenoname »

It would not let me alter the resolution in winecf, under the graphics tab. It only let me delete one number from it, so it is around 1024x70 now.

Where do i go to set it using text editing? I cannot use the winecf, because that window is too small now(accidentally hit OK).

Open the file "user.reg" (which should be in your .wine directory) with a text editor and search through it for an entry called "[Software\\Wine\\Explorer\\Desktops]". Directly below that you should find the entry "Default"="AxB" (where AxB is some resolution). Change that to whatever you like, save the file and that should be it.

Thank you. I looked in there before, but couldn't find anything in the sea of text.

Any idea why it will let me delete one number from the graphics winecf window resolution, but will not let me type anything into it?

Unrelated:
Before this my computer kept starting up at 800x600 resolution and I could not save new settings to the X configuration file. I found an XML file somewhere and changed the resolution settings on that and now I start up with 1024x768, like I want to.

What do you mean? The resolution is freely settable to anything, if you can't, there's a bug. Winecfg is called Winecfg, by the way.
