What happens in Debian repository?

What happens in Debian repository? Maintainer kept version 1.1.42 rather long time, then upgraded it till version 1.2 rc3 and several days ago he is downgraded it back to version 1.1.42. What is strange maintainer?
I have Debian Sid.

if you really want the last version of wine, you can compile it yourself..

it takes about 15-20 minutes on my laptop
