Help with Pulseaudio Disabling?

I was trying to disable pulseaudio as per the instructions given here http://forum.winehq.org/viewtopic.php?t=1457 and I have terminal-usage-newbie type question.
I've uncommented and changed the autospawn part now I need to leave the client.conf, right?
I can't just 'X' out because it keeps giving me a pop up that says I'd be terminating a ongoing process (or can I?).
At the bottom is something along the lines of...

Code: Select all

^X Exit

Amidst some other similarly phrased options.

So, what does that mean and how do I do it?
Also, when it says to enter the next part every time I boot up, do I have to do it now as well or just the next time I boot up?

I'm having a similar issue in try to get Dawn of War's sound to work in Steam. I've also followed the instructions in that thread, but it didn't work. "killall pulseaudio" tells me this: pulseaudio: no process found . Do you do this a root? I haven't tried that yet, and am hesitant to use root for things I'm not sure about although this seems fairly innocuous. Thanks in advance.

That means you press Ctrl and X at the same time to exit. I only know that because ages ago my first ISP used Pine as its email program.

Subsidiarity: Thanks, that's just what I needed.
Also, are you sure your OS uses Pulseaudio?

General: In reply to my second question (re: killall command), yes you do put it in now. Once Subsidiarity helped me to exit the client.conf I tried the game and as the audio was not working put in the command and it has sound now.
