Minimized screen can't be restored

I am having some problems with my customer's commercial software. Everything works fine until the minimize the program to run something else or to possibly run another copy of the same program. When they minimize the window it turns into a small title bar with just the close button and cannot be resized to work, therefore must be closed.

Does anyone know of a fix for this problem??

I have a similar problem and the only workaround that i know of (then again I haven't really looked...) is to either run it in a virtual desktop or keep minimizing restoring till it comes back up.
