Vampire - Bloodlines won't install in Wine 1.1.41

Post by Kodama »

Hi, I just wanted to play a little round of "Vampire the Masquerade - Bloodlines" again so I installed the latest Wine 1.1.41. After inserting the DVD and clicking on launch.exe I can choose the language but get an error message after that;

the first window that pops up says;
"Error Number: 0x800200E
Description:"

the second error message says;
"1628: Failed to complete installation"

So Vampire won't install on Wine 1.1.41

This is probably bug 22066 and is fixed for the next version
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=22066

many people seem to have problems installing applications in wine 1.1.41
I cant install Sims 3 for example.

if u cant wait for the next version u can use git to install wine. there is a tutorial in the helpsection.

Can you show some screenshot of those glitches?
In fact i experience it in several games since some time, especially Devil
May Cry 4.

What is your distro? I think the problem is that i'm using (Kubuntu) Lucid,
which is still in development...

hi,
I've just uploaded a screenshot to AppDB in the Vampire - Bloodlines Screenshot Section. (it should appear as soon as it's reviewed...it's called "new glitches" Version 1.1.42)

I'm running Arch Linux (currently in i686)
with kernel 2.6.32, Xorg 1.7.5.902, and 195.36.15 Nvidia driver

there is also a problem with the sound at the beginning of a dialog. The beginning of the first word repeats up to 4 times...

Then it might be a problem with the latest Nvidia driver.
What i will do is test with older versions of Wine to see if it's a Wine
regression or a Nvidia regression.
