Microsoft ADPCM Audio CODEC

Post by punxtux »

Greetings,

I'm trying to run Microsoft 3D Movie Maker. An older Win95 series game. I followed the error message to Microsoft itself at: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/149823

Need to know how to get this Codec Installed into Wine, so I can run this Old Game.

I also found this page for my Wine Version:
http://source.winehq.org/source/dlls/ms ... ine-0.9.59

I grabbed the files in case I need em, but I don't know how to get em installed. A bit of guidance of the installation process would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Wine already has msadp32.acm - except not all apps play nice.

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10979 also has an issue with locating msadpcm - I was debugging this a few weeks ago but got distracted. I might take another look, but I'm guessing that your issue with 3d movie maker might be related, both are of similar vintage.

Thanks for your reply Jeffz. Too bad it's a bug. I know the game that you had problems with too. I remember seeing that game being advertised in a small video clip after you install Carmageddon 2.

If you ever fix the bug, I'd be delighted to hear about it, cause I really wanna make my movies again, and I refuse to use Windows. Even though I have a retail XP, I care not to use it due to the fact that I am in Love with Linux and I'm fully converted.

Good luck on the bug work.

I decided to take a look at the issue you mentioned, I figured it out and fixed it, I've sent the patches to the mailing list, so with any luck 3DMM will run with the next version of wine...

However, once the patches are applied, there is a different bug in 3DMM to do with sound decoding, it sort of works but there is something slightly off.
