Problem with graphics

Hello,

i am using wine 1.1.19 under ubuntu 8.10. I have an Geforce 8400 GS with newest nvidia driver 180x installed.

I am playing here the game metin2 i have some problems like rendering or what it is i don't know here are a screenshot of the dots ingame. Does anbody knows what is it? thx

Have you tried to install directx from winetricks? I used to play Metin2 with wine and everything worked just fine even with good fps on my older computer :P I wonder how good it would run on this one.

What are your registry settings?
Try tweaking with GLSL, multisampling, offscreenrendering and videomemorysize

fixme:x11drv:X11DRV_desktop_SetCurrentMode Cannot change screen BPP from 32 to 16

can thi be the problen and how to fix.

Usually this is not a problem and there isn't anything you can do about it.

Most video drivers don't work in other then 24-bit screen modes. Well they work but don't provide any acceleration. Of course you can try edit your xorg.conf and start X in 16-bit mode.

HI,

yes ok thank u for answer but do you know what are the dots in game i think something with rendering is not ok. My system is fast enough and under another famous system it runs without problems here under linux is lagging but only metin2.

Well your last thing would be to try older wine releases and if it works with them report it! (as bug) and switching drivers (nVidia recent beta drivers are incredibly faster than stable ones)

Be careful if you start changing registry settings as they can break other installed apps. For example GuildWars requires GLSL=disabled, but Eve Online won't run with that disabled.

I always use a separate wine process to install apps that don't run out-of-the-box in Wine. Each base Wine process is only 32M so it won't eat up all your HD space if you have several.

Then just run your isolated app by changing the WINEPREFIX:

env WINEPREFIX="/home/username/.newwineprocess" wine application.exe

Hi,

i try all the things eg. registry tweaks , installing another wine version ...the same not better. i looked into appdb and there the game is marked as gold. I don't don't knwo what it is but i want to know what these for ..like dots in game and why it runs so slow i try also the beta driver of nvidia but i can say the performance is not better...

Read through the reports. If you are using an ATI or Intel based card,
you can expect different results than someone who used a NVidia card as
Linux drivers are more robust for the NVidia card.

As u can see at my first post
i am using wine 1.1.19 under ubuntu 8.10. I have an Geforce 8400 GS with newest nvidia driver 180x
i am using a anvidia card.
