I am new to Linux and I am trying to install my software for my Logitech G5 mouse. I was able to configure my WINE program to emulate the desk top and it opened the window and then it closed quickly. It never does allow me to install it. I have also tried using the terminal but that does not work either.
Please can any one help me with this? I can't get all my buttons on my mouse to work with out this software.

Hello,
Is there any reason to install the SetPoint software ? Now, Linux is able to detect your hardware very well.
For example, my MX Revolution's buttons are usable in WoW directly without any configuration.
I'm using Fedora, with very recent versions of all Linux software. So with other distributions, it may be less detect.
I think you should think about BTNX that is very funny for Logitech mice : http://doc.ubuntu-fr.org/btnx
But running Wine all the time just for SetPoint is not good, to my mind.

Re: Logitech G5 mouse software install help
It won't work on Wine. It's talking to USB device directly which is not supported by Wine.jamar_26 wrote:I am new to Linux and I am trying to install my software for my Logitech G5 mouse.
Thank you all for the Replies, Yes Ubuntu did recognize it well but I just wanted the full ability to work with the mouse software. I will just have to change buttons by manually configuring it unless any one has any other ideas. I have read that BTNX does not work well in Ubuntu 8.10 is this not true?
