Requesting Maintainer for Legacy Family Tree 7

Post by Panarchy »

Hello

Not sure how I'm meant to go about requesting a Maintainer, but I'll try this method.

I am trying to get my grandparents to switch from Windows XP to Linux (Ubuntu).

First step, would of course be including all programs they currently have on there computer.

So I need Legacy Family Tree 7.

http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.p ... &iId=12489

Any chance of a maintainer?

Thanks in advance,

Panarchy

Become one today :-)

Maintainer on the appdb is not responsible for anything outside of AppDB itself. If you want your program to work, start filing bugs if there aren't already opened in bugzilla.

Do I need to be a coder, or is bug reporting all that's required?

If you are not a programmer yourself then filing bug is all you can do. However don't expect someone to fix it right away. Wine has 1000s of bugs open - enough work for lots of developers for a long time.

Ah...
What does not
The fonts are horrible and some of the colors don't seem to display correctly. For example, I set the background in the text boxes to be blue, and the display as black. But the biggest problem is that it is very unstable. In just a few minutes I had several hangs and had to "force quit" Legacy a couple of times. It hangs enough that the app is still unusable.
That's already posted...

Your question was already answered. If you have another, you'll have to state it. If it's still the same problem, I suggest you follow the advice you were given in the first place, which you clearly haven't, because you the app in question still has no maintainer, nor can I find any bug reports for the problems you mentioned.

You might checkout gramps (a native linux app for genealogy) to see if
they might migrate over to that. I have not yet compared gramps to
legacy (I use FTM and Legacy) so I do not know the
advantages/disadvantages of it.
