Black screen in 3D

Post by sinanmut »

Hi,

I installed wine in my new Ubuntu 8.10 operating system. But when I try to open a 3D projects/program in wine the scene is always dark. I could not understand the reason for this. Is there any one knows the reason why it happens? Do I have to also install my graphic card's driver into the wine?

Thank you very much for your helps.

Best regards.

You can not do that. wine has no direct hardware support and relies on
os level drivers for whatever your os that you are running wine under.

What video card and drivers version you have? Have you tried virtual desktop mode (enable in winecfg)?

Also make sure your Linux drivers are installed correctly (try
glxgears). Some versions of proprietary drivers have rendering issues
with certain games, etc.

Does the app have GLX mode? Are you able to try something that's
known to be working with 3d (such as a windows quake III demo,
half-life, etc).
