Likely regression for Pirates of the Caribbean

Post by fcmartins »

I tried to install the game with the latest 1.1.16. However it quickly dies at install time with

err:msi:ITERATE_Actions Execution halted, action L"DX9_Launcher.A545835B_7768_4D96_A5BC_930949616C2D" returned 1603

The game is rated Platinum for 1.1.2 and Gold for 1.1.3, none of which mentioned install problems, so I guess it is a regression. I wanted to try with these older versions but I don't know if I can have parallel installs of wine (see my other post).

Anyway I found out a related, if not the same bug:

"Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy) broken in newer versions of Wine."
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=13125

What can I do to research further the issue?

It might have been fixed at some point of time and now is broken again see this bug:

Thanks. Can you tell the meaning of:

"Reverting the patch to wine-1.1.3-415-g731306b does fix the installer."

I'm about to install the latest wine source with git (I'm not really familiar with it), so what would I have to do to remove the patch (assuming the tree still works).

TIA,
Fernando
