VCarve PRO kerberos issue wine 9

I am at my wits' end with Windows and the only thing holding me back is my CNC CAD software, VCarve Pro 12 by Vectric. I found a write up in the AppDB of someone using an older version with success but I cannot get version 12 to work at all. My license is only for version 12.005 so I cannot just revert back to an older version.

I have tried Wine 8, 9, & 9.17 with winetricks. I have also tried on Debian 12.7, Ubuntu 24.04, and Linux Mint 22 on different computers and in VMs to verify I wasn't having a hardware issue. I also tried usebottles in case I was just that bad at configuring wine.

I always get the same issue, the installer runs fine but when I launch the program it immediately crashes (as in no reaction at all, just looks like a dead launcher). When I run in terminal I just get a message that says:

err:kerberos:kerberos_LsaApInitializePackage no Kerberos support, expect problems

and nothing else happens. It just sits until I close the terminal. I have searched here and online and have not found any real information regarding kerberos and wine so I am completely lost. Any and all help will be appreciated.

so I put WIN 11

but I had the same error messages

but I still get the error message about riched20 and gdiplus

At this point I think I am just going to run it in a VM. I have fought with this program in wine long enough.

I appreciate you trying to get it running and I know older versions work but my license wont let me use them. Gotta love paid, closed source software...

Hi,

This application has several bugreports in bugzilla, of which https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=54829 seems to have the most useful info (in comment 5)

I don't think it will be easy to get this running in wine (though someone claimed it worked in 32bit?), so running it in a VM is probably the best way to go here...
