Firefox default Browser. HowTo?
Firefox default Browser. HowTo?
Hello
I have wine 1.15 running on mac osx (compiled darwine package)
I installed firefox 3.x without problem and its running. But: I have a application that need more firefox. But everytime i run this application the gecko-engine ist started (which isnt functional and usable).
How can i change the default browser to the installed firefox? Ihavent found anything on the web. (older documentation tell something about HKCU/Software/wine/winebrowser - but winebrowser didnt exist anymore).
Please help to change the default browser to another one (firefox or opera or....)
regards and thanks in advance
Joerg
ps.: If i start Firefox it tell me everytime that he isnt the default (yes, that true..) but i i say yes, nothing changes and after a new start firefox tell the same. in the winehelper-log i can see that always gecko is startet if some application try to call the default browser.

Hello
Thanks for the link to the firefox bug.
But nevertheless: Is there a setting in a config or registry of wine that i am able to a different web browser?
I need a default webbrowser where i can install plugins in (for example djvu..). Additionally i need a webbrowser with a adressline to be able enter urls.
any further hints?
regards
Joerg

Did you try the workaround mentioned in the bug report?ekah wrote:

You mean this?
"Found a workaround! try closing completely firefox and run:
wine ~/.wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/Mozilla\ Firefox/firefox.exe -silent
-setDefaultBrowser
worked for me..."
That doesnt work for me yesterday night. I dont know why. After trying this the gecko-engine starts in again. (sorry for my english) Maybe because i am using mac osx with darwine and there are differencies i didnt know of?
Is there a other way to set the default browser in wine 1.1.15?
In the wine registry documentation is a setting like HKCU,Software,Wine,Winebrowser. But: I didnt have this entry (winebrowser). Is this outdated or should i create such an entry?

If it's starting the gecko engine, it's looking for internet explorer, dimesio wrote:Did you try the workaround mentioned in the bug report?

Firefox default Browser. HowTo?
ekah <[email protected]> wrote on Feb 26th:
This should work in Wine for the Mac. BTW, where did you get 1.1.15? Did you build it yourself?
There are Registry keys that were mentioned in previous messages that you should look at in addition so that you can configure this.
Since I am a fellow Mac user, I will attempt to get the complete installation package for Firefox 3 and install it following the guidence provided here.

ps.: My firefox run without problem. But its nto the default browser.
Re: Firefox default Browser. HowTo?
Ok.
Update.
1. I compiled a new darwine with 1.1.16
2. I used a completely new .wine envorinment.
3. I installed Firefox3
4. uncheck for "check everytime if i am the default" and tell firefox thats the default browser.
Result: Yes, its the default browser
Now my next Problem:
The Application is use is written in an older Delphi-Version and use navigate(url) to tell the default browser to open a html file and show it in the applications window.
i didnt get any information in this windows. the windows is white and empty.
If i open the test-html file directly with firefox i can see infos. (the djvu plugin shows me a page corerctly).
I have following log in wine:
fixme:bitblt:X11DRV_ClientSideDIBCopy potential optimization: pixel format conversion
fixme:shdocvw:PersistStreamInit_Load (0x14d8c0)->(0x1fb210)

Can someone give me some hints where to search?
As far as i can see there are problems calling the outside brwoser and getting information back?
