LTSpice will not print with WINE 9 on Ubuntu 24.04

Post by danjp »

I had been using Ubuntu 22.04 with wine version 6 and LTspice would run and print without issue.
I recently upgraded to the new Ubuntu 24.04 and in doing so wine had been upgraded to version 9.

LTspice will run without issue but printing no longer works.
The printout is marked as stopped in the print manager and can not be restarted so it must be deleted.
In addition, if I use the CUPS pdf driver, the only thing that is generated is a blank page.

Any ideas on how to get the printing working again with WINE version 9 would be great.

Hi,

Saw your comment on the LTspice group as well. I have pretty much the same problem - it looks like all of us running LTspice under wine have a similar problem, apart from Tony running Arch.

It might be a good idea to log a bug if there is no response. It does not worry me too much as I have a bit of way around it if I really need to print a schematic - which happens once in a blue moon. In all the time that I have used LTspice I printed 2 or 3 schematics and only to see what it looked like - for no other reason.

Hi,

At least now I know I am not the only one with this issue. Not sure why it would work with Arch and not Ubuntu. But in any case, I have created a bug for this issue.

I have the same problem with quickbooks, The problem appears to be that Cups asks for a username but wine sends 'cups-browsed' instead.
Successful prints have "cupsdProcessIPPRequest: requesting-user-name nameWithoutLanguage 'UserName'

cups expects username but gets ppd instead.
Is there anyway I can lift this someone who can fix the problem?
