Exploring Wine's potential solution to the iLok dongle issue
Any chance that Wine can solve the Ilok dongle problem? The ilok software install and works via Wine, and it is possible to put licenses on your machine, or on the cloud. but not the dongle. I would like prefer to use the dongle, as I don't have to be online. also it seems to be the most reliable method. Is this possible? since it hasn't been done yet, I'm not optimistic. But one can always hope...

How on Earth are we supposed to know if it's possible? You have to provide details of what the issue is or we cannot start to guess.
What you have tried?

Re: Exploring Wine's potential solution to the iLok dongle issue
I have an iLok USB dongle, and cannot get it viewable in iLok License Manager under Wine 9.11 Staging.
iLok License Manager 5.9.0 (current latest) will run, and can access cloud licenses, and locally installed licenses, but not iLok dongle licenses.
Specific example of why this would be useful: iZotope RX (audio plugins). There's 2 ways to activate these plugins 1) via iZotope Product Portal, which is impossible in Wine thanks to ye-olde gnu-tls issue that doesn't seem like anyone is interested in fixing, maybe it cannot be fixed? 2) iLok key license.
I know some dongles can be used as serial devices by adding them via regedit, and I did my best to see if that would work with an iLok dongle, but no luck so far.
I have also tried sharing the device via the program "virtualhere" from a windows 10 virtual machine, and while it can be shared, it seems that on the wine side it doesn't know how to connect it up.
I hope that helps explain OP's problem better, and if logs are needed, I can dial some up for anyone that thinks there is a decent chance of a workaround.
