but I have a question: actually I'll ask by a practical example.
say I install 7-Zip under Wine, and archive some things.
question is: how will the performances compare to what I'd get under Windows?

A) Native linux programs that support the 7zip format exist.
B) My experience has been that most Windows software will run pretty close to native speed, sometimes even better using Wine.
It really depends on the specific APIs that the software uses and how optimized their Wine counterparts are at this time.
