8.12 too slow with VD emulation

Post by rado84 »

Ever since wine 8.12 came to Arch, something's wrong with virtual desktop emulation: if I enable it and set it to my desktop resolution (1920x1080, DPI is the default value - 96), it takes 20-30 seconds for any Windows program to start, like IrfanView, for instance. But if I disable virtual desktop emulation, then the program starts instantly. I deleted ~/.wine in order to make it reconfigure itself but that didn't change anything and program launch remained way too slow.

A bug broke virtual desktops completely and has been fixed in Wine 8.12. Do Wine 8.9 or 8.10 work normally?

Sorry for the late answer.

8.10 - not a big change (though there was some, just not enough), so I went for 8.9 and that brought back the instant performance I've gotten used to. So for the moment I'll stick to v8.9.

Is there already a bug report for this?
If possible, try to run a regression test.
