I was able to sucessfully use Wine for a game, but I have recently tried to use Wine for a Windows program called Firecast (it is not in the database - https://firecast.app/en_us/ ). The program has some 3D optional components but is mostly, and heavily, text-based.
For some reason it is very laggy. I'm on the process of troubleshooting this. I read the FAQ and had many ideas on things to try. Amongst them, it seemed sensible to first get the Wine Ubuntu branch (which I believe to be on 8.

Is there a way to update from the "store" version to the "Wine" version without having to uninstall my current Wine? And will I lose my data if I do so without a backup?
