Wine doesn't recognize RTX 4070?

Hi there,

I have a brand new RTX 4070 I bought recently. I have NVIDIA 530.41.03 drivers and performance on all my games is just great! However, it seems like Wine seems to be having problems with recognizing my GPU, probably because it's so new. I'm on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS, if that matters.

For example, I noticed with iw4x that once I get into the game after loading the map, the performance is horrible and it's like I can't even select any options in the menu to choose a team. This issue happens with Wine stable 8.0.1, Wine-Staging 8.6, and even WineGE-Proton 7-43 too.

Does anyone have any suggestions for things I can try, or do I have to wait until wine somehow adds support for my new GPU?

No card is recognized at all.
You can test whether a graphics card is recognized with:

But actually, I think that you don't have the drivers for the NVIDIA card installed properly / completely.

I did try your workaround, but I'm still getting horrible performance.

I did have to do a bit of a weird workaround with NVIDIA drivers by manually installing them: https://forums.developer.nvidia.com/t/r ... epo/249873 but everything seems to be fine, CUDA and all.

Also, I am getting awesome performance on native Linux games (and funnily enough even through Proton my performance is great), it's just wine giving me problems, I can even play games with Proton with MangoHud just fine: https://i.imgur.com/9zX94Ro.png

Have you also installed the 32-bit NVidia driver libraries?

Ooh, you are right, nice catch! I had to also download and manually install the .deb file for libnvidia-gl-530:i386 (since NVIDIA's CUDA repo I was using is still not updated yet), I had only installed the 64-bit binaries.

My Wine performance issue is now solved, thanks for the help! :D
