Preferred method for joystick remapping?

Post by TrashCompacter »

Hello,

I am attempting to get a Thrustmaster T.16000M joystick fully working with some older Jane's combat flight sims (ATF and USAF to be exact). The joystick generally works fine except for the rudder and slider; the rudder is mapped to thrust and the slider doesn't do anything at all. I'm pretty sure I could fix this by remapping the axes, but I haven't found any way to do that. jstest-gtk used to be able to do this, but it no longer works with ubuntu's new event system. I tried some key mappers like qjoypad and antimicrox, and while they both work, they also slow down my system to the point where the games are unplayable. I've come to my wit's end trying to resolve this issue and would love some help.

By the way, I am currently using Wine 7 on Ubuntu 20.04
