I'm experienced with Linux, but new to Wine. I'm installing Wine on Ubuntu 20.04. I followed the instructions on this site for doing this: Registered your repositories, installed wine-stable, and it worked. However, I got Wine 4.0.4, and since you website says the stable version is Wine 5.0, I'm wondering:
1. Why didn't I get 5.0? Presumably, this is by design, and not some mistake I made.
2. Should I worry about getting 4.0 and not 5.0? I don't intend to run any exotic Windows programs.
3. If I DO have problems, can I reasonably expect to get the 5.0 source code, build it myself, and run it? That is, given that 4.0 works okay, should I expect 5.0 to build and work okay on the same machine.
4. Can I indeed keep 4.0 installed, and run 5.0 from the build directory? I think I read that somewhere.
