AppDB Voting System Wierdness

Post by Fen »

Hi, I'm a newbie.

I was looking at the AppDB and I think the voting is a great idea to prioritise what people want and will use. However, I was looking at my favorite game that I want to get fully working on wine - "Company of Heroes". I can't understand why there isn't a global voting for this like all the other games. As it is, you can only vote on different versions of it. The combined votes of all the "versions" would be 41, which I think serves to highlight how much a game like this would be nice to get working proberly on wine. Instead its only sitting at a low 17.

Doesn't this seem a bit wrong?

P.S This could be me just having a moan because the only reason I still use windows is because of my love of CoH. :P

Different versions of the same app might well have different problems. One version might be platinum, another garbage. If any developers actually want to use AppDB votes to decide what to work on next, they would need to know which version to target.

I see where youre coming from. But isn't it just classed as one game regardless? I'm thinking its pretty normal to install a game, try to go online and it updates itself to the latest version.
