Should i report this bug in Battlefield 2?

Post by Warren Dumortier »

Hello!

Today i tried to launch BF2 with following config:
Ubuntu Intrepid 8.10
Wine 1.1.10
Geforce 9800GT
Latest nvidia driver in repository (177.82)

I applied a crack (that's working on windows) and copied following
dlls in the BF2 directory: d3dx9_25 and d3dx9_36, as they are needed
to run the game!

When i run it in fullscreen mode (wine), it crashes on a black screen,
here's the output: http://www.pastebin.be/15323

But when i run it in desktop mode, i can get ingame, but the graphics
are bugged, here's the output: http://www.pastebin.be/15324
And a screenshot: http://e.imagehost.org/view/0625/Capture

I tried changing video settings to all possible possibilities, but it
still looks bad! What can i do to get it running, do you need more
info to debug it, should i fill a bug report?
Thanks, kind regards

you haven't set OffScreenRenderingMode to fbo, that's why you have the black overhang

Thanks for answering, but it is set to fbo as i had cod4 installed and
it was needed to have good perfs.
Any other proposition? :D

I still don't believe you. If I disable OffScreenRenderingMode=fbo, I get the black overhang, if I enable it, it goes away.

http://wiki.winehq.org/UsefulRegistryKeys

Start "regedit" and add the registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER -> Software ->
Wine -> Direct3D

Then create/edit the string OffscreenRenderingMode.

Now I can't open that. It just freezes. There doesn't even come that "EA games Challenge everything" and sometimes it does, depends those settings. But if I delete that BF 2 opens normally...
