EAccessViolation problem

I installed a game months ago (nothing crazy, just a visual novel) and I used it without any problem. I'm trying to launch it now and I keep getting a EAccessViolation error message and nothing else. I've no idea what's happening. I tried uninstalling and installing it again but it doesn't work. I'd appreciate any help or ideas, since the owner of this computer is away on business and I've no idea what's happening or how to fix it.
