Help Getting Program to Run

Post by wah fun »

Hello,
I am a new Wine user and have what is perhaps an odd request. I am trying to switch over to Ubuntu completely but haven't done that just yet. I have a Windows XP host machine with Ubuntu (8.10) installed as a VirtualBox guest machine. I have installed Wine on Ubuntu. My wife loves the Windows Spider game so I thought I would try to get that to run under Wine. Alas, no luck.
I have searched numerous sources but have found no specific answer. I have found that most programs need a setup program to be installed in Wine. But, the Spider game, as far as I know, has no setup program. I tried just copying the program into the Wine programs folder and that does work but it is very slow and, for my wife, difficult to get to. So, any help would be appreciated.

Thx

Spider game? As in Spider Solitaire? You can use alternatives in Linux, like PySol (which contains over a hundred different solitaire games).

i agree with DaVince... first try to get an alternative linux native program and see if you like it - they are so many around you will not miss most of ur windows applications. nless it has a sentimental value... :P
