Steam games freezeing on Alt/Alt+Tab [Unity]

Post by Antrix »

Hi all! Another problem with... not wine i guess O_o
Well, i try a few games and all of them had a same problem. Games works fine, but when i press alt or alt+tab - game is freezeing (on fullscreen)... sound or music continue playing, but that is all, game has no further reaction for alt+f4, alt+tab or something, i can only kill the process via terminal (ctrl+alt+f1). But one moment - i've experienced this problem in Ubuntu, Ubuntu Gnome and Ubuntu Mate. With Kubuntu - all works fine (i can minimize game, change keyboard layout, press any avaiable key :)). I think that problem not with wine at all. But anyway, any advice? Maybe someone had the same problem?

Best regards!

It's a common problem. I tend to run games in a (full native screen resolution) Wine Virtual Desktop - to avoid issues like this. You can set this up with the winecfg utility. Since Wine doesn't use anything sensible (e.g. like SDL/SDL2) it tends to be quite flakey with multi-monitor support / full-screen applications. Or of course just stick with Plasma 5 - why use anything else?? 8)
