Dark Souls Prepare to Die - fps problem

Post by Halicarnassis »

I managed to get a free copy of the game on Steam. Loaded WINE and steam. After a day of fiddling around I have managed to get the game to run albeit at around 20fps... At least it is running.
I have added in DSFix and changed some of the ini settings and the frame rate is a fraction better but I can't get it to run anywhere above the 28fps threshold, nor can I get my PS controller to work properly.
Any help would be appreciated.

i see your graphics card is a gt9400m.
this card is quite a bit weaker than the mimimum requirement according to steampowered.com
the minimum system requirements are a GeForce 9800 GTX+ or ATI Radeon HD 4870 or higher.

so really your video card is too weak to run the game.

you can still try if setting your videoram to 256 MB using 'winetricks videomemorysize=256' you may have to download winetricks first.

also some tips from the wiki located athttps://wiki.winehq.org/Performance could help.
