this is my first post in this forum.
I recently installed Ubuntu on my Desktop PC and I must say, that I like it quite a bit. Everything is running much faster, compared to windows 7
.But here is my problem: I like playing Hearthstone on my PC, which is why I downloaded Wine 1.6.2. I also searched the internet for the settings, required to run Hearthstone under these circumstances. Many sources suggested to install Wine and make the following adjustments:
1. open the Wine configuration
2. go to "libraries" and add "dbghelp", then set it to "disabled"
3. add "msvcp100" and keep it at the default parameter "native, builtin"
4. Apply these changes
5. Install Hearthstone
With this configuration I can run the Battle.Net client and install Hearthstone, but when I try to run it, the following error message is displayed on the Hearthstone loading screen: "GLOBAL_ERROR_ASSET_LOAD_FAILED". After the next click, the game just closes itself.
I then found out that, when I change "dbghelp" to "native, builtin", Hearthstone runs smooth and stable. However with these settings, i can not open the Battle.Net client. So when i want to play Hearthstone again, i have to re-adjust "dbghelp" to "disabled", start the Battle.Net client, change "dbghelp" to "native,builtin" and THEN run Hearthstone.
It is very annoying to me, having to change the settings every time I want to play. Is there any kind of workaround to this? Also, since I am very new to Wine and Ubuntu in general, can anyone explain to me, what the hell I am doing
? What are libraries in this context. And why do I need two different configurations for Battle.Net and Hearthstone respectively?Software versions, that are relevant in this context, are Ubuntu 14.04, Wine 1.6.2 and Hearthstone 4.1.0.10956.
