COD4 alpah blend problem.

video card: X1950gt with ati limited driver
linux: ubuntu 8.04
wine: 1.1.6 updated from the apt-get

today, i try to install cod4 which is my favorite game.And it is my first time to use wine.
i just mount the iso file, and run the setup.exe in the iso.Everything is ok at begin,but the error came out when the installation was going to finish.A window came up,said some errors with "firewall". Maybe it is my fault, during the installation,i choised to install the pb( does the wine-1.1.6 support PunkBuster), Then the setup.exe had no action, so i had to terminated the installation.

And then i went to the folder of cod4, run the iw3mp.exe. this appears "Video card or driver doesn't support separate alpha blend, glow will be disabled".Did i miss something?

Relaunch your installer, he will start again where it crashed, and disagree
with pnkbuster will solve the firewall problem, and finish the installation
correctly? BTW, if you do this, could you look if you also get a read access
violation error at the end?

For the alpha blend problem, no idea!

Thanks..... the firewall error disappeared ,but the application tell me that i nedd to update the directx ....

And who know the alpha blend problem?

Check in winecfg if pixel shaders and vertex shaders are enabled!
Also, was there an error at the end of your installation, saying access
violation at adress 00000000...... ?

Pixel shaders and vertex shaders are enabled!
there are a few errors at the end of your installation, but not saying access
violation at adress 00000000..

DirectX must not be installed, so that is ok, when he asks, you must choose
"no".

I also have a black screen...

When you run wine in windowed mode, can you see any error message? There can
be one in fullscreen, but it doesn't show, but in windowed desktop mode you
can see it, on my install i can see one!

error message?
you mean the error messagebox of cod4?
when i use wine-1.1.4 ,there was not error messagebox, Everything is ok except the screen is black.Other things are all right such as sound, control, mouse

Yes, i mean an error message (box) showed by the game itself, not wine's
output. do you have an error message when running wine desktop in
*windowed*mode? (winecfg)

there is not any other error message showed by the game except the "alpha blend" problem.
