World of Warcraft with FGLRX Radeon 7850 questions

Post by coreymanshack »

So I've got FGLRX driver on Debian 8, I've tried everything I've found on the internet. I'm running a radeon 7850 and get horrible frame rates in WoW. I get around 30FPS average on 'FAIR' settings. I've ran WoW in opengl mode but apparently WoW is discontinuing support for opengl and half the graphics settings do not even work in this mode. I tried the free radeon driver as well. I'm running wine-1.7.29, are there any recommendations to speed up performance? I'd like to get at least up around 40-50 frames on 'FAIR' settings.? I'd like to get rid of windows entirely.

Your Wine version is old, so start by upgrading to 1.7.51. If that doesn't help, try Wine with the CSMT patchset. It is packaged by various third-party apps if you don't want to build it yourself.

I tried building wine from source on debian 8 and ran into dependency issues with no sound and no 3d support ...something about xserver and I couldn't resolve the issues. What is the csmt patch set? Is there a .deb package for wine 1.7.51 I can install?
