Hi, folks! I'm posting this, because I have a huge problem with Wine (stable and beta versions). I'm using Wine from a long time to simulate my msdos-programs and play some games that worked before. Everything was just fine with Wine until yesterday. I tried to open my software (which worked just fine until yesterday) and the app started and then closed after a few seconds. I received a "wine-server" error and I reported the bug. They I tried to:
1.Restart PC and try again, but Wine didn't start.
2.Tried to access to Wine Config but it wasn't responding.
3.Wine tricks didn't respond.
4.Every .exe program that I had installed wasn't working.
It seems that Wine is not working. I also tried to delete (with all dependencies and config files and folders) Wine 1.6 and install Wine 1.7 but the problem was the same. I tried to install the software (.exe) with playonlinux but I was getting a wine crashes all the time. I searched a lot of suggestions and solutions for this problem on internet, but I didn't found a solution.
Please, I need an advice for finding a solution of this problem. Any help will be good for me and for all linux friends.
Using: Zorin OS 9 Core.

What else has changed on your system? Did this coincide with an upgrade to Wine, or something else?scorpio92 wrote: Everything was just fine with Wine until yesterday. I tried to open my software (which worked just fine until yesterday) and the app started and then closed after a few seconds.

Did you also delete the wineprefix? If not, you need to. If the problem persists in a clean wineprefix in current Wine, post terminal output.

I gather Zorin is based on Ubuntu. If the version of Zorin that you have is based on 14.04 and you recently updated your kernel, the problem could be https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour ... ug/1478844 (tracked here as https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=38982).

Yes, I upgraded to the newest kernel. I saw that this bug affected most of the users of Debian based OS. Now we should wait for an official fix of this problem. Now I'm using Crossover Linux which works very good. Thanks for the fast replies and I hope everything will be fine with Wine again.
