Zoo Tycoon Complete Collection - Crashes While Loading

I recently purchased a copy of Zoo Tycoon: Complete Collection after seeing that it was ranked 'Gold' and being unable to find my original copy. I was able to install both the programs successfully, but whenever I try to actually open it, it gets about 30-40% in before suddenly crashing. After installing, the disc also stopped showing up on my Finder sidebar (though it still shows up fine in Wine). I did some googling, but even trying the fixes suggested by people for Windows users (primarily adjusting the full screen setting) doesn't alter the crash and its timing.

Since it's got a Gold rank (and the original version has a Platinum ranking), I'm hoping someone may be able to give me some advice... I'm a relative newbie to Wine, and I haven't been able to figure things out through the FAQs and such.

Does it really crash, or does it just exit silently? Because there's a bug for the latter: https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=34906.

Ah, I think it would fit with that bug. My apologies, I didn't consider the difference between the two.

It seems there's a patch (albeit one a few years old with a bit of a disclaimer) - I can't seem to quite figure out how to properly go about applying the patch (newbie to Wine and definitely not a programmer - I tried going through all the FAQs and other info on patches for Wine and got myself completely befuddled), or if the comments below it indicate that it no longer works on present versions of Wine.
