Star Trek: Birth of the Federation (botf) needs gdi to work

Post by drokmed »

Hi all, my first post here.

The game:

Star Trek: Birth of the Federation

or botf doesn't work in opengl mode. It needs gdi to run. How do I turn on gdi mode? It's an old XP game that I still play. The game is free now, you can download it from this site: http://www.armadafleetcommand.com/botf

Anyways, after lots of experimenting (guessing mainly), I finally got it to work. The screen wasn't updating, unless you move the mouse. This game needs gdi to work.

How do I force wine to use gdi? It's easy to turn on in another environment (don't shoot me for saying POL) but in native wine, I can't figure out how to turn on gdi.

Thanks, I appreciate the help.

Wine version? Terminal output? And what makes you think this game needs gdi? There's nothing in the AppDB to suggest that. https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager. ... n&iId=7308
