Help Noob Install Msi

Hello

An .msi installer hung.

running wine-1.7.41 on a minimized Slackware distro (Puppy Slacko)
i installed dotnet2, dotnet2sp1, dotnet2sp2 using winetricks.
i installed gecko when wine asked me to (after clicking msi).
i did not install mono when wine asked me to (since i had already installed dotnet).

It sounds like you never tried to install this with wine-mono. If you haven't, try that.

install dotnet over top of mono? i've read to uninstall mono first. i mean, isn't the point to use dotnet instead of mono?

No, I meant to try your msi with wine-mono only. Native dlls should only be used after you've tried wine's builtin ones and they've failed.

yes, i realized. i installed .net 4 and mono. The msi installed properly.

however, the application will not run. i get numerous errors, listed below.

now using wine 1.7.9.

winetricks already has a checkmark next to .net2.0, therefore i did not/could not try to install it. But how could .net2.0 be installed on on a new wine?

i tried to install .net3.5 with winetricks, but it wants 6.5 GB free space which i don't have atm. Why so much?

i did not try to install .net2.0 sp1 or sp2 yet. That might be the problem. Will try soon.

the first error that looks relevant is this one:

now using wine 1.7.9.
That version is over a year old and no longer supported. The current development release is 1.7.42.

err:winediag:SECUR32_initNTLMSP ntlm_auth was not found or is outdated. Make sure that ntlm_auth >= 3.0.25 is in your path. Usually, you can find it in the winbind package of your distribution.
