I have a webcam. It is a Logitech C310. It works with my distribution of Linux, which is Ubuntu 14.04 when I run it under Cheesebooth. However, it does not appear under zoom.us, which is severely hindering me and might force me to go back to Windows because of how dependent I am on this application. I can't afford to keep showing up to meetings on my phone because I need the consistent connection of an ethernet cable and the ability to see the entire room of participants that the phone version of zoom.us does not offer.
I'd really despise going back to Windows for this sole purpose when I know Linux CAN pick up a webcam. Is there anything I can do about zoom.us detecting it as well? I suspect it's wine having problems detecting the camera.
Logitech Webcam on Zoom.us under wine
Re: Logitech Webcam on Zoom.us under wine
Webcams don't work in Wine. https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=16147
The bug report hasn't been updated in over a year. Assuming you've tested in 1.7.29, you should add a comment to it that this is still an issue.

Re: Logitech Webcam on Zoom.us under wine
Hi, I'm also on Ubuntu and would like to ask the submitter how they got Zoom.us working with WINE in the first place, since that's the point where I'm stuck. I went to http://zoom.us/download and, with a spoofed user agent, got to download a .exe for the meeting client (otherwise I got a Mac OS .pkg file). But when I try to run "ZoomInstaller.exe", I get the error "Cabinet is not valid" and after that "Extracting the file failed. It is most likely caused by low memory (low disk space for swapping file) or a corrupted Cabinet file." I have 900 MB free on my on this partition, so I assume it should work since the file is only 7 MB itself.
Re: Logitech Webcam on Zoom.us under wine
I downloaded ZoomInstaller.exe from http://zoom.us/download in native Firefox and did not need to spoof the user agent. The installer ran without any problems and ended by opening a window with buttons to either sign in or join a meeting. Both buttons seemed to work; the sign in one brought up a sign in window, and the join a meeting one brought up a window to enter the meeting ID. Since I don't have a Zoom account or any meetings to join, I can't test any further.
Sounds to me like you have a bad download; the fact that you needed to spoof your user agent may be related.

Re: Logitech Webcam on Zoom.us under wine
The download now works without the User Agent spoofing, but I still get the same error. Could it be because I'm on a 64-bit system?
Re: Logitech Webcam on Zoom.us under wine
I'm on a 64 bit system; the installer works for me in both 32 and 64 bit wineprefixes.
You didn't specify your Wine version. I tested in 1.7.35; if your version is older, upgrade. If the problem persists, post terminal output. http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#get_log

Re: Logitech Webcam on Zoom.us under wine
I thought 1.6.x were stable releases and 1.7.x were development, so I didn't think to get a newer version - I've now done that, though. The installer does run with Wine 1.7.34. Thanks for the help! Once I've had a chance to try it out, I'll enter my results into the AppDB.
