Wine for SteamOS

Post by Nerdy3.14159265 »

I was curious if there was a build of Wine for SteamOS. I'm working on setting up a computer with SteamOS and wanted to be able to play at least some Windows games. I'd also be curious if there was a version of PlayOnLinux for it as well, if anyone knows about that here, so that I can more easily get games to work.

Ask Valve; binary packages are built by the distros. As for POL, that's a separate project; ask them.

I brought it up because I know XBMC has something similar, where someone made a repo specifically for hosting the packages for SteamOS. I talked to someone on the IRC that was thinking about giving it a shot making one (I had already posted this by then), so hopefully one will get made for Wine too if there isn't one now.

Please ignore the Bump, I had thought my post was completely wiped off the front page and I'm unfamiliar with Bumping policy on these forums.

While I still haven't been able to find a repo of Wine specifically for SteamOS, I did find a great tutorial on adding the Debian Wheezy repo to SteamOS (Which is right here for reference).

This doesn't mean that I wouldn't like to see one made but that I can make due this way for now.
